Miss Kitty

Sweet-faced Kitty, 14, had a rough start in life. She was born in Hong Kong, China, where her owners David and Tamera rescued her from a rain puddle, she had been abandoned. Not wanting to get too attached at first, they named her "Kitty". Of course they became smitten, and brought her back to the states. She came to Blue Bell in 2004. Kitty was shy at first--she adored David & Tamera, but wasn't one to cuddle with just anybody. Eventually she would let us brush and pet her. She loved her chicken and canned food, and her "bed bowl" in the sun. In the past month or so, her health began to decline. We knew the end was near when she lost weight, lost her appetite, and finally began pacing. David and Tamera were able to say their goodbyes, and the next day, she passed over. Sarah, Christine, and Donna held and kissed her. She was surrounded in comfort and love in the lower house at Blue Bell when she died. We will all miss this little china doll with the big blue eyes.

Kitty was the subject of a charming children's book entitled "Hong Kong Kitty" which describes her journey from Hong Kong all the way to Blue Bell.
