Tasha

I am moving this thread to the Rainbow Bridge because unfortunately Tasha was put to sleep early this morning.

She had been doing fairly well in the past week; eating pretty well up until Wednesday and then her appetite started to decrease.

When I got to Blue Bell yesterday afternoon, she was outside drinking from the pond, which was good to see, I tried giving her something to eat and she wasn't really interested, but I thought it might be because Maria had fed her recently.

Maria noticed Tasha's third eyelid was visible right before she left. I took a look at her and noticed the same and then when I checked her skin color. it had started to turn yellow, which is a sign of liver failure. That had happened with Charlie Wonder at the end.

So I took her down to Canyon and the plan was for them to put her on IV fluids, take blood and evaluate the results today. She ate both wet and dry last night and Dr. G went in to check on her in the middle of the night. But when they got in early this morning, she had declined to the point that they needed to put her to sleep right away. Multiple organs had begun failing and there was nothing they could do but put her to rest.

Tasha was one of Dr. Hamil's son's cats and she was on the cover of Cat Fancy magazine once! She was a sweet cat who loved to sit next to you and be petted. I called her my little shadow, because over the past couple of months, she would just follow me everywhere. She wouldn't be real fast, but she would follow and sometimes it was all I could do to keep from tripping on her as she would get under my feet. She loved to drink from the pond and she would always find a glimmer of sunshine somewhere in the house to keep her warm.

I love all the cats at Blue Bell, but I'll admit that Tasha was one of my favorites. She would have been 16 this year and lived a good life at Blue Bell.

Goodbye, sweet Tash Tash! I'll miss you Little Shadow!
